The Luck of Maybelle O'Kitty

I admit, Maybelle doesn't look too happy here, but believe me, she is. Maybelle, along with two other cats, grace the corridors and business offices of the Everett Senior Center.

Years back, the Center partnered with the Everett Animal Shelter to foster cats and help them find homes with their members. For some reason, Maybelle wasn't snatched up right away, so the staff decided she was a keeper which meant she needed to be trained on Invisible Fence® just as the other two cats had been a few years earlier.

That's when I met her because I had to help Maybelle learn her Invisible Fence® boundaries inside the Center...and it's a VERY LARGE place. There are three exits and any escape would mean she would end up running loose in the heart of the busy Everett business district. We also use Invisible Fence® indoor solutions to block a nurse's station, large dining room, kitchen, bridge room, and canary cage. And we had to devise a visual training cue that wouldn't be a trip hazard for people, walkers or wheelchairs.

Maybelle has been safe and deservedly spoiled at her new home since 2005. She has quite a large fan base, as you can imagine, as she's the only "senior-friendly" and "costume-tolerant"cat of the three feline residents.

I can't wait to see what she'll be wearing for Cinco de Mayo!
